All applications must be submitted using the ETH "eApply" online platform. The application process is managed by the School for Continuing Education (SCE). Please upload the following documents to support your application.
- Diploma certificate and transcript (grades)
- CV (Curriculum Vitae)
- motivation letter
- work certificates from prior employment (if available)
- copy of passport or identity card
- completed and signed Declaration of Consent
After submitting the required documentation, you will be asked to pay the non-refundable application fee of CHF 50 or CHF 150 depending on where you obtained your degree.
Eligibility
We welcome all applications from motivated individuals who love a challenge, want to learn about the latest technology, and meet the admission requirements listed below.
- A Master’s degree from a university recognized by ETH
A bachelor degree may be accepted sur dossier based on additional qualifications or relevant work experience. A science degree is not required, e.g. business, economics and liberal arts degrees are accepted.
- At least 5 years of work experience with some managerial experience
Managerial experience is broadly defined to include project management or other professional responsibilities where the candidate has some responsibility for allocation of resources and decision-making on behalf of the employer or clients.
- Good knowledge of English (at least B2 is recommended)
Note: MAS AID participants and applicants have priority over CAS only applicants for admission to all programmes.
Application periods
The following application periods apply to the specified programmes. Late applications are not accepted.
Selection and Admission Process
- The School for Continuing Education (SCE) verifies all applications for completeness and formal criteria.
- Applications are evaluated by the Admission Committee.
- If necessary, an interview may be scheduled to clarify information.
- The School for Continuing Education will notify the applicants of the final decision.
MAS applications are reviewed as they are received (i.e. rolling admission) and applicants can generally expect a decision within 2 to 4 weeks after submission of a complete application.
CAS applications are reviewed as a group based on the number of spaces remaining after review of all MAS applications. CAS applicants can generally expect a decision within 2 to 4 weeks after the application deadline.
Please note: Admitted applicants are automatically matriculated into the applicable programme and do not need to respond to the decision or confirm their participation. However, withdrawal from the program requires written notification of SCE or programme management, and late withdrawal is subject to withdrawal fees as described below.
Tuition fees
The tuition fees for each CAS programme are 8,500 CHF.
The tuition fees are 42,000 CHF for the entire MAS in AI and Digital Technology including all CAS. If you upgrade to the MAS after taking one or more of our CAS individually, then the CAS tuition fees will be fully credited toward the MAS tuition fees.
Invoices for tuition are sent in October and/or March. CAS tuition is paid in one invoice. The MAS tuition is paid in two instalments during the first two semesters of participation.
Note: If accepted into the MAS AID, alumni of the CAS in Applied Information Technology (years 2019 – 2023 only) can be credited for the CAS AIT tuition and ECTS in place of the CAS in Data and Machine Learning.
Withdrawal fees
Withdrawal from a programme within 30 days after the admission date provided on ETH admission letter is free (no cost).
Withdrawal after 30 days and before the programme starts is subject to a deregistration (penalty) fee of 5,000 CHF for the MAS and 3,500 CHF for a CAS.
Withdrawal after the programme starts is subject to a deregistration (penalty) fee of 42,000 CHF for the MAS and 8,500 CHF for a CAS.
